Nathan Sykes: 'Finally I'm not being seen as a boyband child'

Singer Nathan Sykes has revealed that he wants his new video to show the world that he wants to be taken seriously as a male solo artist who has matured significantly since his previous project.

Speaking to London's Metro newspaper, Sykes explained that his music video for 'Give It Up' will hopefully show people that he's not the 'youngest member of a former boyband':

‘Over And Over showed my romantic side. Give It Up is the other side of that, the more confident, the sexy, the more mature, older side of me. It’s the ‘oh Nathan’s grown up’ video. I think people are now not seeing me as the child from the boy band. They’re seeing me as a grown up artist. I hate the word grown up, it’s so silly. But then I want some people to remember I’m 23, I’m not 37.’

He also opened up about his journey as a solo artist so far and explained that it's a very different experience to what he had as part of The Wanted:

"Things have changed for me. It’s been like a journey. Going from every single day with four other guys to suddenly just overnight writing your own music and getting to know who you are as an artist, instead of being who you are as part of a band. It’s incredible."
