Songwriter Jamie Scott opens up on relationship with One Direction

Songwriter Jamie Scott has spoken about his working relationship with One Direction.

The musician has helped to write a number of the band's hits, including 'Midnight Memories' and 'Story of My Life'.

Speaking to the Guardian in a feature about songwriters, Scott said that he has developed a strong bond with One Direction since contributing to their 2011 debut album 'Up All Night'.

He said: "I feel like I can say whatever I want to the boys and they’re not going to take offence.

"That’s invaluable.'

Ruth-Anne Cunningham, who worked with One Direction on their 2014 record 'FOUR', added:

"I won’t have [any artists] in a room that isn’t contributing to the song. Anyone can say anything that can shift a song’s direction. Even the people who don’t really come up with ideas but know when something is right are important. It’s like playing football – someone scores the goal, but there’s a whole team setting it up."
