Miles Hunt – “The Wonder Stuff Diaries ‘86-‘89”

“From winning the pools and blowing it all on a hearse to pouring beer over a record industry bigwig’s head, ‘The Wonder Stuff Diaries 86-89’ could be subtitled ‘How To Do Everything Wrong, And Succeed Regardless’.” – Simon Price

In his first book, “The Wonder Stuff Diaries ‘86-‘89”, Miles Hunt delves into his personal journals to give a vivid account of how a young British kid worked his way up to achieving the success most can only dream of, as an international touring rock star.

The Wonder Stuff recorded four Top 20 albums and seventeen Top 20 singles, selling over three million albums worldwide. “The Wonder Stuff Diaries ‘86-‘89” recounts the joys and frustrations of the music business, with an unabated narrative of the impact on Hunt’s personal life. The book is peppered with both personal and professional photography, press cuttings and the unmistakable artwork that represented the band during these early days.

In the mid-1990s, Hunt hosted MTV Europe’s ‘120 Minutes’ alternative music show and became one of the first DJs on the fledgling XFM. His decade-spanning career even includes a Number 1 with ‘Dizzy’ featuring Vic Reeves.

The Wonder Stuff are still actively touring, regularly selling out the Shepherds Bush O2 Empire and Birmingham O2 Academy as well as many other venues up and down the UK. Some highlights of their career include: being the first indie band to headline a stadium show (Bescot, June 1991), four consecutive sold out Brixton Academy and Town & Country shows (1991) and the biggest bar spend at both The Brixton Academy (1991) and The Forum (2001).

This is a terrific memoir of searing honesty in which Miles looks back through the prism of experience at the innocence, exuberance and occasional folly of youth” – Charlie Connelly

“A vivid account of growing up in thrall to music”Terry Staunton
