Kasabian's Meighan scared by Amy WInehouse's death

Kasabian's Tom Meighan has admitted that the untimely death of Amy Winehouse was such a shock that it has put him off excessive partying.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Meighan explained that he met Winehouse several times and was often reminded of his own after-hours ways by her much publicised behaviour:

"Amy was beautiful, I met her numerous times and she was lovely, she was a sweetheart. It was an absolute shock that someone that young and that gifted could go like that and it frightens me that something could happen like that. Bless her, she is at peace now. But nobody should go that young, not at 27."

The tragedy of the 'Tears Dry On Their Own' singer's death caused Meighan to think about his own wild lifestyle and showed him that he needs to "learn to cut it off":

"I'm probably safer on tour than I am at home. I'm just like everyone else I like to have a good time and I need to learn to cut it off. It's easy to get home and go out and carry on for two days without a break."
