David Bowie's art collection to be displayed and then sold

The late David Bowie left behind an impressive art collection after his death and it will soon be displayed to the public and then sold at auction

The 400-piece collection includes artworks by the likes of Frank Auerbach, Damien Hirst, Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland and Marcel Duchamp, and they will be displayed this November for the first time.

A press release sent out by Oliver Barker, chairman of Sotheby’s Europe explains that the collection is “eclectic, unscripted, understated." He adds: "David Bowie’s collection offers a unique insight into the personal world of one of the 20th century’s greatest creative spirits.”

Sotheby's New Bond Street galleries will exhibit Bowie's privately owned pieces from November 1 until November 10 and Billboard adds that "review exhibitions will be held in New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong."
