The new 'Les Misérables' cast claim No.1 album spot

The cast recording from blockbuster 'Les Misérables' has topped the UK albums chart today (January 20).

The soundtrack from director Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of the hit musical is the first movie cast recording to top the Official Albums Chart since Evita in 1997.

'Les Misérables'- which stars Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman - won 3 prizes at this year's Golden Globes, including the Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical title, and the film's popularity has been incredible since its recent release.

The film's No.1 album ranking has knocked Emeli Sande’s 'Our Version Of Events' down to second place in the charts, while Jake Bugg's self-titled album is a non-mover at No. 3.

Calvin Harris' '18 Months' is down two positions to No. 4, while Rihanna's latest offering 'Unapologetic' has dropped to No. 6.

Ed Sheeran's '+' is also down two places to No. 8 after an impressive 71 weeks in chart.

Bruno Mars' 'Unorthodox Jukebox' has fallen three places to No. 10.
