Rylan Clark: "Fame has brought me sadness"

Former X Factor star Rylan Clark says that fame has brought him "great sadness".

The star won over audiences on the talent series last year with his larger-than life character and witty remarks, however during a task on Celebrity Big Brother Clark admitted that becoming a household name has not come without its downfalls.

The celebrity housemates were given different topics to debate, with the statement 'fame never brings happiness' up for discussion.

Rylan revealed on the Channel 5 show: "I think fame has brought me great happiness but at the same time my greatest sadness. The lowest point of my life was when I'd just become famous as I was hated. It was so new for me that was the worst part of my life."

He continued: "On the flip side this show has been a dream of mine; without being that hated character I wouldn’t have been able to come in this house and have one of the most amazing times of my life.”

Heidi Montag - former star of The Hills - also discussed the perils of fame, adding: “Sometimes I wish I was never famous. It can be really hard and damaging; it takes away your freedom for the rest of your life. I feel like kinda my life has been taken away from me and it’s sometimes a really hard thing to deal with. I would trade all the money I have sometimes just not to be famous anymore.”
