Jay McGuiness reveals The Wanted are still open to gig offers

Jay McGuiness has suggested that The Wanted might still perform live despite announcing a hiatus.

The group told fans earlier this year that they will be taking a prolonged break after their UK and US Word of Mouth tours.

It was said that the members would pursue solo projects, but singer McGuiness told Digital Spy that they still might be active in the live circuit.

He said: "I think there's going to be more private gigs that we'll be doing throughout the year still. A lot of promoters have probably assumed we've split and won't book us, but we're still open to gigs we're all available for."

Speaking meanwhile about whether the break will be temporary, McGuiness said:

"We can't really promise anything. Basically, after four to five years, the idea of finishing the tour and then straight away going into another album cycle just wasn't something the five of us were happy with. So we decided on a hiatus.

"If it doesn't feel appropriate to come back and someone does an absolute Cheryl Cole and is like, 'Screw you guys, I'm still doing brilliant,' then that's totally natural. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone does. For the most part, it will be just taking a little time to be like, 'We don't have to do it all again for a while'."
