ACM alumna Rachel Coomber makes Music Week’s 30 Under 30 List

ACM is extremely proud to announce that alumna Rachel Coomber (currently Producer at BBC Introducing) has made it on to Music Week's prestigious 30 Under 30 List for 2016. Other alumni Lara Dowd (Weller Media Agency) and Tom Hollings (Artists & Company) were also featured as ‘best of the rest’.

After graduating from ACM in 2010 with a degree in Music Business, Rachel went on to manage artists such as Jamie Cullum and fellow ACM’er Newton Faulkner, work for which she received a Gold Disk in recognition of her contribution. Afterwards, she joined the BBC as part of their Radio Events Team before being promoted to her current role of Producer at BBC Introducing.

Music has always been in Rachel’s blood and since the age of just seven she knew that it was the career path for her. Prior to joining ACM, Rachel studied Music Technology at college where she was the only girl in a class of thirty. This didn’t deter Rachel however, who, if anything, has used this to spur her on to great success in the tough business of music.

During her studies, Rachel took up advice from her tutors to get involved in as many extra curricular industry activities as possible. Rachel soon started managing a local band in between her coursework - getting them airtime on C4 soap Hollyoaks. It was this that gained the attention on Jamie Cullums’ management company, Air MTM, and soon after, Rachel was offered a job and her first break into the music industry. After finishing work for Air MTM, Rachel moved on to Quest and started work with the Ruen Brothers who she helped sign to Universal Republic Records in July 2013.

“Rachel Coomber is a shining example of how ACM graduates are contributing to the ongoing development of the music industry with broad knowledge, a great grasp of technology and a native understanding of the habits and desires of the new consumer. We are incredibly proud of Rachel and of her peers ; hundreds of whom are out there in decision making roles, helping to shape the music industry of today.”

Oliver Sussat, Director of Marketing, Communications & Technology, ACM

“ACM started me off on my journey in the Music Industry and educated me in all the key areas I needed to know from artist management to publishing, to rights management and music law. It was a really inspiring place for an 18 year old music enthusiast to be; surrounded by not only Music Business students on my course but aspiring musicians who we could collaborate and work with. It certainly prepared me with all the knowledge I needed to take my first steps into artist management and beyond. Having passionate and experienced lecturers who all have their own journeys and experiences to draw upon is incredibly inspiring.”
