Alicia Keys: 'Artists have an obligation to paint the picture of the world'

15-time Grammy Award winning superstar Alicia Keys has revealed that musicians and artists do have a responsibility to reflect the world's current state at any given time.

Keys is also an actress, New York Times best-selling author, entrepreneur, activist and powerful force in the global fight against HIV and AIDS.

Yahoo! Music quotes the 'Girl On Fire' sensation as saying: “I think with artists it’s an obligation to paint the picture of the world. We have to do that every opportunity that we get. We have to make people feel comfort."

The Multi-Platinum selling artist made the comments at a press junket and added that it's important to be socially aware: "We have an obligation to give people other perspectives. And we echo what’s current — what’s happening around us. That’s the most important thing that we can do. So that’s my mission as an artist, and I will always do that.”
