Dolly Parton isn't looking to make hit records: 'My true fans accept that'

Country icon Dolly Parton has revealed that she doesn't care about landing the next hit single.

Speaking to Billboard recently, she explained that commercial success doesn't cross her mind anymore while writing new music:

"I'm one of those people, I don't do it for commercial reasons. I just write what I write and I sing what I sing and I just get in and do it. At this point in my life I'd probably have more success if I would work with other important people, but my songs are just so personal."

"If I'm looking for big hit records, I'd probably go looking for a big producer, but for now I like doing what I'm doing and I'm happy and content with that. And my true fans accept that."

Parton, meanwhile, recently confirmed that her new album entitled 'Pure & Simple' will take fans back to her roots and told press: "I may not be pure, but I’m as simple as they come! This new Pure & Simple project is really special to me because I’m taking my fans back to my roots."

"I feel like these songs have a pure, tender side and we didn’t go overboard with arrangements. I’m so glad we’ve teamed up with our friends at Sony to get this album out to the fans.”
