Lawson: 'One Direction's US success is inspirational'

Lawson have revealed that One Direction's global success is a source of inspiration for them.

Both acts are based in the UK but it's the 'Kiss You' stars have that made the biggest international impact.

The new album 'Midnight Memories' gave One Direction their third US No.1 record in a row and it seems it's something Lawson would love to replicate.

Ryan Fletcher told Capital FM: "I think they’re doing absolutely incredible where we obviously dream of but that’s just another level. But we’ve been doing quite well over there and we’re going to go back next year as well. We love it over there it’s great so fingers crossed we can have half their success. There are a lot of people over there flying the flag for British music so fingers crossed we can be a band doing well over there.”

He added: "No offence to the boys personally it’s just a very different style of music because they’re obviously like a typical boy band and we’re just a band, it’s kind of a different world. We’ve met them a few times, lovely lads. Just very inspirational to see British artists doing that well in America I think that’s the best thing."

Lawson meanwhile performed at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball at London's O2 Arena on Sunday (December 8).
