Lorde: 'Taylor Swift played my new song to our friends like a proud mom'

Hitmaker Lorde has revealed that once she wrote 'Yellow Flicker Beat', which will be on the soundtrack for the new 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1' movie, she played it to her close friend Taylor Swift and she was the first person to hear the cut.

The 17-year-old songstress told her followers that Swift was the first person she played the song to and she was so excited by the reaction she received: "This girl was the first person I played yellow flicker beat to, and she was instantly obsessed with it/would make me play it to our other friends in her kitchen like a proud mom."

Lorde added that she returned the favour by showing her enthusiasm for Swift's forthcoming new studio album, '1989': "In return, I make her put on my favourite jams from her new record and flail around wildly/smile like a crazy person. It's the coolest thing in the world having friends who make incredible music AND having them cheering you on when it's time for your own to be released. So pumped for them to hear 1989. #iheartswift."

The New Zealander has curated the soundtrack for the new 'Hunger Games' movie and previously spoke out about the project, calling it a 'challenge': "Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."
