McFly deny giving One Direction "sh*t" songs

McFly mainman Tom Fletcher has distanced his band from quotes published in a newspaper that suggested they give One Direction their worst songs.

The band have written for the 'One Thing' boyband in the past and Fletcher contributed the song 'I Would' for their new album 'Take Me Home'.

A report suggested today (November 12) however that McFly gives One Direction some of their worst material, but Fletcher has taken to Twitter to confirm that it was all said in jest. He said:

"So, the stuff in the press today about us giving One Direction our "sh*t" songs is obviously completely false. What Danny said was obviously a joke. We would never, NEVER, give anyone "sh*t" songs and as I clearly say in the interview, "You obviously always want to do your best work". In fact all 3 songs I've written for 1D are some of my favourites I've EVER written and I genuinely would have kept them for mcfly but I have never, and will never give anyone second rate songs."

He continued: "How would that ever be good for me as a song writer? And the most important point of all is…I've never written a sh*t song ;)."
