One Direction star Niall Horan has given Eoghan Quigg some heavyweight support in his bid to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The singer, who finished third on the 2008 series of the UK X Factor, is currently vying to sing for Ireland at this year's Eurovision.

His track of choice is 'The Movie Song' and it seems he has a fan in fellow countryman Horan, who tweeted today (February 28):

"Ireland! vote song number 2 @eoghanquigg92 tonight on Eurosong #TheMovieSong."

Quigg then replied: "@NiallOfficial appreciate that so much buddy, #Legend #TheMovieSong."

Horan added: "No problem bro! Hope you get it! Good t see ya back."

The young singer is facing off against Laura O'Neill, Can-linn, Andrew Mann and Patricia Roe in the Ireland heats.

The main Eurovision event meanwhile will take place in Denmark on May 10.
