One Direction and their fans have set a new Twitter record.

The boyband performed at the National Stadium in Singapore on Wednesday (March 11).

The social networking website have confirmed that the gig was the most tweeted about event ever in the country.

The concert generated over 100,000 tweets from those in the region, whilst the phrase '#OTRASG' (On the Road Again – Singapore) topped the trending list.

More than 30,000 people attended the gig in person.

The show formed part of One Direction's On The Road Again world tour.

The run opened in Australia in February and it is due to continue across the world for much of 2015.
