One Direction look set to impress at the MTV VMAs after revealing that they think their performance will be one of their best yet.

The boyband were one of the first names announced to perform at the awards ceremony, which takes place tonight (September 6) in Los Angeles.

Speaking to MTV News, Liam Payne increased the hype around their performance by saying that he feels it will be one of the best they will have ever done. He said:

"I think performing at the VMAs is such a huge occasion. Like, we're really looking forward to it, and I think it ranks up there with one of the best performances we'll do so far."

Payne continued: "It's quite nerve-racking because obviously there have been so many historical moments and stuff that have happened at the VMAs. We want to make a moment ourselves, but who knows."

The band meanwhile unveiled this morning (September 6) a new photo from their MTV VMA rehearsals, which can be seen below.
