One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has thanked fans for their MTV VMA victories last night (September 6).

The band reigned supreme in all three of the categories they were nominated in - Most Share-Worthy Video, Best Pop Video and Best New Artist - at the Los Angeles ceremony.

They also performed on the night as a successful night was had all round.

Louis Tomlinson took to his Twitter account to thank the band's fans - the sole reason behind the wins, he said. The singer tweeted:

"Wow can't believe we won three awards! I said it on stage but i'll say it again! The awards are because of you guys, thank you everyone!."

Niall Horan meanwhile this morning (September 7) tweeted Katy Perry a photo of the pair kissing at the awards, with the Irishman tweeting "looks like its official ... me and you" - to which Perry replied:

"I'll be your Mrs. Robinson..."
