One Direction help dementia charity

One Direction have teamed up with the Alzheimer's Society for a charity auction.

The five lads have offered a signed t-shirt to the dementia cause and proceeds from the listings will help raise money for the charity.

The partnership was initiated by Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder, whose grandfather has been diagnosed with dementia. Calder said:

"I'm so pleased the boys have decided to support Alzheimer's Society in this way. My grandfather has dementia and my family and I have had first hand experience of how the condition affects every aspect of a person's life. I hope people will get bidding on eBay to raise money to help those families who live with dementia."

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s Society, added:

"We are hugely grateful to One Direction for auctioning an item in aid of Alzheimer's Society. Money raised from the auction will help people live well with dementia and fund research to find a cure. The boys support will help us reach new audiences and raise awareness of dementia amongst younger people. Everyone has a role to play in improving the lives of people with dementia."

With four hours left to run (December 20), the auction price stands at £960.
