Boyzone star warns One Direction of fame pitfalls

Boyzone star Shane Lynch hopes One Direction's chart reign "long continues".

The British five piece - comprising of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - have catapulted to international fame thanks to their hugely successful albums 'Up All Night' and 'Take Me Home'.

Fellow singer and Boyzone star Lynch has warned the heartthrobs about the temptations surrounding them, and how to remain grounded.

He revealed to The Sun: “Stay close friends and understand each other — and more to the point, understand each other when someone else is upset and leave them the f*** alone. Long may it continue that One Direction continue to break hit records set by the likes of The Beatles, because if they’re being broken it means life is going forward.”

Lynch says One Direction's success reminds him of Boyzone's heyday.

He explained: “I think Boyzone probably should have seen a psychiatrist at the height of our fame — but we didn’t. We were young and it’s ridiculous when you look back. It’s a fierce, dangerous thing to be in as a kid. I remember fans nearly knocking in windows of our cars and jumping under the wheels to stop us moving.”

He added: “It is similar to what the One Direction lads are experiencing — that mayhem. And you look at One Direction and there’s no easy way for them to find the road forward.”
