One Direction fans rally for video to beat VEVO record

One Direction fans have been rally behind their idols in their quest to beat VEVO's 24-hour record.

The group released their promo clip for latest single 'Kiss You' on Monday (January 7) to a warm response.

Singer Niall Horan then tweeted to encourage fans to help make the video smash VEVO's record of the most in the clip's first day.

Justin Bieber currently holds the record with his 'Beauty And A Beat' video, which garnered 10.8 million views in a day.

However, with YouTube stating that the video has been online 19 hours, it looks somewhat unlikely that the clip could beat the record - unless there is a last minute surge.

At the time of writing, the search page on the video streaming website indicates that the video has been seen 6,479,911 times, whilst the video's counter says 5,887,989.
