Investigation launched into leak of One Direction charity single

An investigation into how a new One Direction charity single leaked onto the internet early is being launched by their record label.

As previously reported, band member Louis Tomlinson expressed his sadness after their cover of Blondie's 'One Way Or Another' for Comic Relief found its way online.

It is due to be released digitally on February 17 and physically a day later - but the public can already hear the track illegally.

In a statement, label Syco revealed that they are looking into how the charity effort leaked online. They said:

"It is very disappointing that the song has been leaked and we are currently investigating the matter."

Comic Relief meanwhile added that whilst it is "disappointing" to see the song leak, they hope One Directon fans will still go out and buy the single. They said:

"We are very grateful to One Direction for recording a fantastic single to help us raise as much cash as possible for Red Nose Day. Last month the band made an emotional visit to Ghana to see for themselves the difference the money is making, and whilst it's disappointing that the track has leaked online we are confident that the public will buy the official single knowing that it will help support vulnerable people across the UK and Africa."
