One Direction star Liam Payne has reflected on his band's debut film This Is Us.

The group unleashed the documentary and concert style flick earlier this year and it hit No.1 in box offices across the globe.

The retail version of the Morgan Spurlock directed movie has now been released in the UK and it looks set to be a Christmas smash.

Speaking to Capital FM, Liam Payne said that he is glad the band were able to have a direct input into how the film turned out.

He said: "We wanted to make sure we had control over it though, that was the main thing for us. And to put a film out that we were proud of and we wanted to put out. But as long as that was taken into account, and it was in the end - it was such a great thing to do. I mean, who gets the opportunity to make their own film? It's so great."

One Direction meanwhile released their third album 'Midnight Memories' in November, with the recording topping charts in almost one hundred countries.
