Pharrell Williams: 'TV talent shows are just a spring board'

Pharrell Williams thinks TV talent shows are merely a "pit stop" in a singer's career path.

The 'Happy' hitmaker is currently a coach on the US version of The Voice.

However, he told the Mirror that mainstream success rarely comes from those type of shows.

Instead, the programmes act more as a "spring board". Williams said:

“99% of people who have been on these shows don’t find success even if they win. That’s what contestants have to come to terms with.

“This is not the be all and end all, this is the spring board, it’s not the pool.

"I spend most of my time reminding them this is a pit stop for you.”
