Selena Gomez has reacted angrily to an internet troll who made fun of a suicidal fan.

A devotee of the US singer recently posted online a photo of a scar on her left arm along with the worrying text: 

"I just wanna die so all of this will end already. I feel so worthless. It's hard for me to ignore people."

This caused one apparent Gomez fan to tell the user to "cut, cut, cut, cut".

The singer herself then jumped in to deride the internet troll and back the vulnerable fan, saying:

"This is ridiculous. @selinagomesfan my fans don't do this to others. That's not what I stand for so you can gladly stop being a fan of me. I only encourage love, confidence, kindness."

Speaking meanwhile to the original user, Gomez added: "My love, you are gorgeous just the way you are. Don't you ever attempt that s**t again. Ok? I love you too much for you to be doing that ... Ps. To all my fans, don't ever think this is fun to get attention. It's just wrong. I love you all just the way you are."
