You Me At Six achieve their first UK No. 1 album with 'Cavalier Youth'

English rock group You Me At Six have managed to knock Ellie Goulding off the top of the UK album chart by outselling her at almost two to one in the last seven days.

You Me At Six’s fourth album ‘Cavalier Youth’ gives the group their first ever No. 1 UK LP. Their debut album ‘Take Off Your Colours’ reached No. 25 in 2008, ‘Hold Me Down’ went to No. 5 in 2010 and 2011’s ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ charted at No. 3.

Ellie Goulding’s ‘Halcyon’ now sits at No. 2.

The rest of this week’s top five is made up by Beyonce’s self-titled record at No. 3, Avicii’s ‘True’ is up one to No. 4 and Sophie Ellis Bextor’s ‘Wanderlust’ is down one to No. 5.

Besides You Me At Six, other new entries to the album chart come from Sheryl Crowe with ‘Feels Like Home’ at No. 16, ‘Restoring Force’ by Of Mice and Men at No. 17, The Rifles’ ‘None The Wiser’ at No. 21, ‘Kill The Power’ by Skindred at No. 28 and Asgeir’s ‘In The Silence’ at No. 40.

After winning Album of the Year at the Grammys, Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ is this week’s highest climber as the French robotic duo soar 37 places to No. 29.
