Troye Sivan helps fan come out to her mum at his concert

Troye Sivan, who came out himself last year, helped a fan do the same during his concert at Washington DC, America on Monday night (March 7).

During a short break the 20-year-old read out a handwritten note by a fan in the audience called Kelly who was at the concert with her mother. The note revealed she was bisexual.

Before revealing the news, the Youth singer asked:

'Are you sure?' before the teen screamed 'yes' in reply.

Sivan read out loud as he pointed his hand in her direction:

"If you're reading this, can you announce that Kelly is bisexual, please?"

Following the very public announcement Kelly was filmed running into the arms of her mother who held her tightly as they both cried with happiness (see below).

Later Kelly took to Twitter to thanks the singer for helping her come out and tweeted:

"Wish I could say thank you to everyone. Thanks everyone soooo much for all the support. I love you all (sic)."

Sivan revealed he was gay two years ago in a YouTube clip.

He said: "Am I ever gonna find someone? Am I ever going to be able to have a family? If there is a god, does that god hate me? If there is heaven, am I ever going to make it to heaven?"

"And those were really, really scary questions for a 14-year-old. And then throughout the process, I kind of started to build this self-confidence and this self-worth, and I realised 'Yeah, I am gay'.

"Eventually I got to the point where I was like okay, if there is a heaven but I can’t be myself up there, maybe I don’t want heaven."
