Keira Knightley to Star in Netflix Adaptation of Novel ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’

Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Laurence Olivier Award nominee Keira Knightly has been confirmed to star in the highly anticipated adaptation of The Woman in Cabin 10, the bestselling novel written by Ruth Ware.

Knightley will portray a travel journalist who, while on assignment to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury yacht, witnesses a horrifying incident: a passenger being thrown overboard. Her attempts to uncover the truth are met with disbelief as all passengers are supposedly accounted for.

The film is set to be directed by Simon Stone, whose credits include the 2021 Netflix project “The Dig,” starring Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes and Lily James, as well as the 2015 Geoffrey Rush drama “The Daughter.” Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (“Snake Eyes”) wrote the script for “Cabin 10,” on which director Stone also took a pass.

Breaking the exciting news to her followers on X (formerly Twitter), author Ruth Ware wrote:

“Nobody told me that one of the hardest parts about being a writer would be KEEPING AMAZING SECRETS. Yes, THE Keira Knightley.”

The novel has been previously included in Summer Book Guides from Bustle, Oprah.com, PureWow and USA TODAY, and this new adaptation will come courtesy of Netflix.

Knightley, meanwhile, was also recently added to the cast of Netflix’s upcoming spy thriller “Black Doves.” Other stars to appear in this project include Golden Globe and BAFTA winner Ben Whishaw and BAFTA Award-winning actress Sarah Lancashire.
