Linkin Park to headline MTV's first-ever Fan Fest

'Crawling' rockers Linkin Park have been confirmed to headline MTV's first-ever Fan Fest, which will take place next month in conjunction with the San Diego Comic Con.

The band will perform at the event on July 24 at San Diego Padres' Petco Park, where the Fandom Awards will also be held.

MTVU's Ryan Kroft, the Fandom Awards Executive Producer, explained in a statement: "In addition to handing out trophies, we will recognise the achievements of fans and their favourite obsessions with special surprises and experiences. It's the perfect event to reward the fans at Comic-Con, the epicenter of all fandoms."

Linkin Park, meanwhile, are gearing up to release their highly anticipated new studio album, entitled 'The Hunting Party', on June 17 and guitarist Brad Delson explained to Guitar World that it was a challenging record to make yet extremely fulfilling:

"We are making music because there is a deep personal need to do it as artists. We always want to make something that is great. In terms of process and the direction of the record, we wanted to really channel the inspiration every musician feels when they first start learning their instrument. I used to play guitar three to six hours a day, every day, for the first 10 years. I would go on trips and beg my parents to let me take my guitar."
