5 Seconds of Summer admit they were initially unsure about supporting One Direction

5 Seconds of Summer have revealed that they initially had their doubts about supporting One Direction on tour.

The Australian group warmed up for the Brits last year and they are set to do it all over again in the US on One Direction's Where We Are tour this summer.

However, Luke Hemmings told The Sun that they originally felt that supporting groups like the 'Kiss You' lads could have been a step in the wrong direction.

He said: "We looked up to the likes of Blink-182 and Green Day so we felt that it would be kind of weird for us and we didn’t know what to do. We thought they were cool but we did look at them as a pop band and we didn’t want to be that. But then we met the guys and thought they were awesome.”

Speaking meanwhile about getting to grips with One Direction's accents, Michael Clifford said:

"We couldn’t understand anything they were saying at first. When they all speak together it’s all very fast and confusing. Niall is the hardest to get."
