A 24-year-old woman named Samantha Strain has revealed that she held up a sign at a recent One Direction gig, which took place in Edinburgh on Tuesday, that said she had been dumped to get Harry Styles to notice her. 

Speaking to Scotland's Daily Record newspaper, Strain admitted the sign wasn't truthful because she does actually have a boyfriend, but it was so worth it to catch Styles' attention at the concert: "I know I told a lie about being dumped, and I’ll probably be dumped now, but it was worth it.”

Upon noticing the poster, Styles spoke to her from the stage at the show and asked: "There’s a sign there – Just Been Dumped. Why?" Strain, a garage receptionist for car manufacturer Audi, shouted back: "Because I came here.”

The 'Story Of My Life' heartthrob then quipped: "Ah, he doesn’t like us. You don’t want a boyfriend like that anyway. You don’t. I’m telling you. You want someone who is supportive.”

The Directioner also uploaded a photograph of Styles speaking to her from the stage via her official Instagram account, which can be seen above left.
