One Direction tribute band: 'We didn't want our mates to make fun of us, but it was such a good opportunity'

One and Only Direction is a new tribute and lookalike band who perform One Direction songs and one of the members has now opened up about what it's like to be involved in the project and how much two of the singers look like real 1D members.

Charlie McFarlane, who impersonates Louis Tomlinson in the band, told Scotland's Daily Record that the lads who sing as Harry Styles and Niall Horan look almost exactly like the actual superstars:

The Harry and Niall acts particularly look so like the real band members. I actually thought Harry Styles had left the real One Direction when I first saw him in the studio. We’ve been doing lots of rehearsals and now I can’t wait to start performing and see where this takes me.”

He went onto add that while it doesn't sound like the coolest thing in the world to be in a One Direction tribute band, it was such a great opportunity that they couldn't turn it down: “I didn’t want many people to know at first as I was worried my mates would slag me off for being in a One Direction tribute band but I couldn’t say no to such a great opportunity.”

One and Only Direction will perform their first gig at the Denny Civic Theatre in Dumbarton on Saturday, August 9.
