Sam Smith denies he will record next James Bond theme

Sam Smith has distanced himself from speculation suggesting he will record the next James Bond song.

The next movie in the spy series is due to land in October next year and 'Stay With Me' star Smith has been mooted to record its opening track.

However, he told NME that he hasn't heard anything about the job whatsoever.

Smith said: "No, I have no idea what that was about and I know as much as you do. You probably know more than me; I didn't even read the article. I think it's something everyone would love to do, but yeah, it was all news to me. I won't say any more on it."

Speaking meanwhile about his top James Bond song, the singer said:

"My favourite Bond theme was Jack White and Alicia Keys. I love that; I thought it was amazing. Her voice and his voice together, I thought, was really interesting."

The last Bond theme was Adele's 2012 effort 'Skyfall'.
