Lock of Mozart's hair expected to sell for £10,000 at Sotheby’s auction

A piece of Mozart's hair from 1791 should sell for around £10,000 ($15,463) at an auction this week.

Memorabilia of both composers Mozart and Beethoven will go on sale at Sotheby’s on May 28.

A lock of Mozart's hair in a gold locket, which includes a note saying that it is from the composer, is expected to reach £10,000.

The item is pictured below.

A smaller piece of Beethoven's hair meanwhile is also expected to sell for £2,000 (£3,093).

An invitation to Beethoven’s 1827 funeral is set to reach about £2,000.
