Nathan Sykes on debut solo album: 'It has been finished twice'

Singer Nathan Sykes, formerly of The Wanted fame, has revealed that his highly anticipated first debut studio album is almost complete, but it's difficult to draw a line under because he keeps wanting to add or edit parts of it.

Speaking to Billboard in America recently, the UK-based musician explained that he has considered his debut solo album to be finished twice, but every time he goes to wrap it up he wants to change or tweak something so takes it back into production:

"The album's been finished twice, and then unfinished. The first time I finished, it was the label really thinking it was finished, and I was like, 'No, not yet. I need to go back to L.A. to write a couple of songs'. Then I decided (at the) top of the year that I wanted to write a couple more songs, because I've grown up a lot since I started writing the album."

The 'Over and Over Again' hitmaker recently told J-14 that the most difficult thing about become a solo artist is realising you have total control over everything, because when you're part of a boyband decisions are made either as a group or just on your behalf:

"I'm very much an artist across everything. Especially when you come from a band, you let people do it for you - now I'm very much on top of everything and, at the end of the day, it's my career. If it doesn't happen it's like, 'hey, it's my fault,' so it's your responsibility as an artist to make sure everything's going right and the way you want it to."
