Taylor Swift wins big at last night's BMI awards

Taylor Swift became the youngest person ever to win the prestigious award for Country Songwriter of the Year at last night’s BMIs.

The country music awards ceremony took place in Nashville, Tennessee where Swift, 20, earned the impressive title. Other stars to have scooped this title include Bill Anderson when he was just 23 years old and the legendary Johnny Cash at the age of 24.

The ‘Love Story’ singer also picked up the award for Country Song of the Year, a title that the young singer/songwriter has won for three consecutive years in a row making her the only artist to achieve this feat.

Swift will be returning to the UK in March for an arena tour of her third studio album, ‘Speak Now’.

  • March 22, 2011 - The NEC, Birmingham
  • March 29 - Evening News Arena, Manchester
