The Libertines duo Pete Doherty and Carl Barat performed a Velvet Underground song with the band's John Cale this weekend.

The Brits joined the veteran musician on stage in Paris on Sunday (April 3) as he ran through the group's classic 1967 record 'The Velvet Underground & Nico'.

Doherty and Barat performed the song 'White Light / White Heat' with Cale.

A number of other guests took part in the show, including Animal Collective, Mark Lanegan and Etienne Daho.

Doherty meanwhile is due to embark on a solo tour of the UK in May.

He will open the run at Bristol's O2 Academy on May 11 before concluding things with two date's at London's Hackney Empire on May 19/20.
