Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding and DJ boyfriend Tom Crane have become engaged over the New Year’s weekend.

The couple have been dating for three years, getting together after Harding split from journalist boyfriend Joe Mott. Harding and Crane split once briefly in 2008 but quickly reunited and have gone strong since.

A spokesman for Harding confirmed last night that the couple were engaged, but said that no wedding date has been set.

The couple had been talking about marriage for some time previously, as Tom revealed by chatting openly about the possibility of an engagement, saying: “I know the kind of ring Sarah wants. I want an old-fashioned English wedding. I want the top and tails, more subtle than a celebrity wedding.”
