Soul legend Etta James is fighting for her life just two days ahead of her 73rd birthday, a spokesperson has revealed.

The ‘At Last’ singer was revealed to be gravely ill earlier this month and is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia in California. The star has also suffered from Alzheimer’s since 2009.

James’ manager is urging fans to keep the songstress in their prayers as she approaches her 73rd birthday on Tuesday (January 25).

The rep told ContactMusic.com: “It breaks my heart to see her this way. But she is fighting. I just ask everyone to pray for Etta.”
