Leona Lewis and Plan B for free Radio 1 Olympic gig

BBC's Radio 1 has this morning (May 23) announced details for a free music festival that will celebrate the Olympic games in London. 

The musical extravaganza is set to be headlined by Leona Lewis and Plan B, and will take place at Hackney Marshes in East London during the run up to the global sporting event. It will be a two-day festival and 100,000 tickets will be made available to the public. 

BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend has been confirmed for June 23-24 in 2012 and the 'Bleeding Love' singer told the station that she is honoured to perform in the area she grew up:

"To be a part of this event is so important to me. Radio 1 are going to put on the biggest show in their history and it's happening in east London."
