Sugarland plans memorial for Indiana State Fair victims

Country duo Sugarland are planning a memorial concert in Indiana to honour the five fans who died during a stage collapse tragedy at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday (August 13).

Fans were waiting for Sugarland to take the stage when a sudden storm brought the scaffolding crashing down on top of them.

On Monday (August 15) Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush released a statement honouring the fans who lost their lives, and now they're planning a return to Indiana to perform a tribute show.

A statement from the pair reads, "We are in the process of planning a private memorial in Indiana, to honour those fans who died. We would first like to hold space so that their families can have time to go through their own services and memorials.

"Until that time we are holding vigil for them. We join them on their mourning benches."

Both Janet Jackson and Lady Antebellum have cancelled their upcoming performances at the Indiana State Fair in the wake of the tragedy.

Maroon 5 and Train will perform their fair show this thursday Thursday (August 18) as a memorial to the deceased.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit the families of the victims.
