Reggae artist banned from MOBOs over rape conviction

Reggae artist Jah Cure's MOBO nomination has been withdrawn from the competition after organisers discovered he was convicted of rape in the past. 

The 33-year-old was up for Best Reggae Act, but has now been disqualified after MOBO bosses uncovered that he served a prison sentence back in 1999 for a gunpoint sexual assault. 

Other remaining acts in the well-respected category are Damian Marley & Nas, Mavado, Alborosie and Khago.
