Robin Gibb's spokesman confirms he is undergoing chemotherapy

A spokesperson for Bee Gee Robin Gibb has confirmed that he is currently undergoing chemotherapy sessions.

Although Gibb never publicly revealed the cause of his illness, his friend and spokesman Mick Garbutt opened up about his condition at a charity event on Wednesday (January 18):

"It is true to say he is very unwell, but he's an incredible man and enjoys lots of support from his close circle of friends and family, and particularly from his wife Dwina."

"He is receiving regular chemotherapy and fighting hard. He is also heading home to be with his family at every possible opportunity as that's where he feels comfortable, but the reality is that he is very unwell."

Garbutt also added that the star has set himself a goal of appearing at the launch of his classical debut, which is centred around the sinking of the Titanic, on the 100th anniversary of the tragedy (April 12):

"He has set himself a goal to be at the gala performance of his first classical composition in April and everybody around him hopes that he will be there."
