Matt Cardle on One Direction and parting ways with his record label

Former X Factor winner Matt Cardle has been dropped from his record label and he opened up about parting ways with Columbia and the success of the One Direction lads in a new interview.

On May 20, the singer-songwriter tweeted: "I have parted ways with Columbia records, we were heading in different directions, big news coming soon.... So excited! : ) love you all xx"

Now, he has spoken to In:Demand Live about his music career's new path and his fellow X Factor pals, and revealed that not only is he working on a new record, but he is "super proud" of the 'What Makes You Beautiful' heartthrobs:

"We were there for just over a month writing the second album but we had the opportunity to work with some amazing writers and producers out in LA."

"I still speak to the boys from 1D when they’re not jet setting around the world, bless them. It’s amazing. I think it was a given. I think a few people saw them coming to when they got on the show and I’m super proud of them."

Cardle even spoke about other X Factor alums, adding: "Aiden’s (Grimshaw) releasing now and Rebecca’s (Ferguson) done so well. I bumped into Cher (Lloyd) in LA and Olly (Murs) on the way back – we were all in the same carriage.”
