French political leader Marine Le Pen has threatened to sue Madonna after the singer superimposed a swastika onto her forehead in a tour visual.

Le Pen, who is the leader of the French right-wing political group National Front, appears on screen during Madonna's MDNA world tour with the Nazi symbol on her forehead.

Speaking to Le Parisien, Le Pen said that she has taken offence at the image and has threatened to sue the "old singer" if she displays the visual in France. She said: 

"We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes. If she does that in France, we'll be waiting [with legal action]."

Le Pen meanwhile is also quoted as taking a jibe at Madonna's adoption of two children from Africa. She is reported to have said:

"By the way, has Madonna given back the children she stole from Africa? Or did she end up buying them?"
