Geri Halliwell reveals she’s still paralysed by fear

Geri Halliwell has revealed that she’s still often paralysed by a fear of not being good enough.

The former Spice Girl, who was recently booed by audiences whilst standing in as a guest judge on The X-Factor, told The People that despite her experience in showbusiness, she is regularly racked with doubt about her abilities:

"Deep down inside I have a dark space of fear. It paralyses me and stops me in my tracks and tells me I am not good enough. It tells me not to try in case I fail. It tells me to stay in my comfort zone and not to ask for what I want."

But the 39-year-old, who lost out to Nicole Scherzinger as the permanent fourth judge earlier this week, added that she tries to cope with her fear in the best way she can:

"We all s*** our pants. Even the Prime Minister does. I did this show once in Hyde Park in London in front of 120,000 people and before I went on stage I was crying and shaking with nerves.

"But then I remembered just to serve the audience. Make it about them and not about you. Also think of people naked. It makes everyone human and vulnerable.

"It is a great equaliser. It takes people off their pedestal. My advice is accept your nerves. Don't fight or it becomes worse.”
