Adam Levine's mentees on the forthcoming new season of The Voice will be joined by singer Mary J. Blige as she steps into the role of his team's adviser.

This exciting news was confirmed yesterday (July 16) and the Maroon 5 frontman revealed that he's a "huge fan" of the star's and is excited to work alongside her on the popular televised vocal talent contest:

"I've always been a huge fan of Mary J. Blige, So it's been great having her on The Voice as an adviser to my team."

Filming for the new series is already underway and Blige explained in a statement that she's genuinely enjoying being a part of the exciting project:

"I love Adam, he's amazing. I'm so happy to be working with him and his team."

The third season of The Voice is due to premiere on September 10 on NBC.
