Russell Brand has revealed that he feels a sense of "responsibility" to his ex-wife Katy Perry.

The pair had their divorce finalised recently following months of waiting after they reached a settlement in February this year.

Speaking to Culture magazine, Brand said that it was "right" that they are not together anymore, but he spoke of a feeling of "responsibility" to her.

Brand added that Perry is living in "all of this" - Hollywood - and as a result, he doesn't want her to read things that make her think that he doesn't love her. He said:

"It was right for as long as it was right and now it's right that we're not together. I feel a responsibility to her - she's living in all of this (Hollywood) and I don't want her to read things that make her think I have anything other than love for her. Because I don't want her to be hurt."
