Rihanna's 'Talk That Talk' lowest-selling UK number one in recent history

Rihanna topped the UK albums chart on Sunday (August 12) with the lowest amount of sales in recent history.

The singer's 2011 effort was a surprise No.1 at the weekend as the albums chart suffered from poor sales.

However, Music Week reports that it only managed to shift 9,578 copies during the week - the lowest since the Official Charts Company started collating data in 1994.

The previous lowest sales number was held by the Cranberries' 'Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?' with a figure 11,981 some 947 weeks ago.

Rihanna meanwhile trounced the record for the lowest selling No.1 of the 21st Century, beating off Emeli Sandé's figure of 13,430 which was recorded earlier this year.
