Michelle Heaton will be fitted with a heart recorder after a long-term medical problem flared up.

The Liberty X singer told her fans on Twitter yesterday (August 12) that she was in hospital and was due to stay in overnight.

She tweeted that she has "suffered from long and scary heart problems over the years" and that it took a "turn for the worse".

Heaton updated her fans earlier today (August 13) to confirm that she is due to have a "small operation" to fit a heart recorder inside her. She tweeted:

"Thank u for all your lovely comments..I am having a small operation to fit a 3 year heart recorder this afternoon It's scary but so grateful to #watfordgeneral #nhs 4looking after me & deciding this is best course of action. I'm sure the operation will b fine Love me."
